A good place to start, I think, would be to talk about what I take into the woods for an afternoon hike or forage.
- Shelter kit- a poncho and 550 cord
- First aid kit- band aids, 4x4 gauze, roller gauze
- Water bottle
- Metal cup- cook with or boil water
- Petzl e+lite- the best headlight I've owned
- Snare wire
- Multi tool
- Mora #2 sheath knife
- Fire starting kit-a fire steel, piece of candle, and man made tinder
- Diamond steel and ceramic rod
- Gerber saw
- Wetterlings hatchet
- Bug dope (seasonal)
- Sunscreen

I saw a comment you'd left on Norseman's blog saying you'd just started a blog of your own.
So i thought i'd drop by and wish you luck. The first six people are amazing after that you'll be amazed how fast your blog'll grow.
Be sure to join the outdoor bloggers summit and Foal's bushcraftusa

Thanks for the help. I'll check out those blogs, as well as yours.
Good luck with the blog!
How do you like your Gerber saw, and are they expensive?
I love it, and no you can pick them up for about 11 bucks. If you have a Menards close they carry a Fiscars brand for about 9 dollars. Same saw.
